If the United Way building does not include a township-operated senior center, it will not be able to go ahead with its planned renovations, since the senior center was a condition of the Board of Adjustment giving its approval.
In an announcement Wednesday, township officials cited “financials proposed by the United Way representative far [exceeding] comparable market norms for municipal facilities and what the Township could afford – even prior to the pandemic” in their decision.
United Way officials plan to renovate the building and parking area, with space on the first floor for a community center that is expected to be used primarily by seniors and operated by the township.
