Residents on North Mountain Avenue were hit with heavy flooding when a 12-inch water main on Upper Mountain Avenue ruptured.

Montclair is looking into new technology to take care of the contamination around the township’s water bureau without disturbing the soil, but the project could take up to three years.

Besides routine flooding from rainstorms, the street has been particularly vulnerable during major weather events, such as the August 2018 flood and, before that, Hurricane Floyd in September 1999.
