The Lackawanna redevelopment’s days in court may be over. 

Attorneys argued in court Tuesday whether the Lackawanna Plaza redevelopment plan approved by the Montclair Planning Board in 2019 should go back to the board for more public comment. 

On Friday, April 30, a group of residents will ask a judge to reconsider his own earlier ruling, and send a plan to redevelop the Lackawanna Plaza property back to Montclair’s planning board for more testimony. 

There’s a new owner of the historic Lackawanna Plaza train station — a Montclairian who says he plans to bring a “fresh vision” to the property, as well as a grocery store, while still “paying homage to the history of Lackawanna Terminal." 

A year after the approval of the new supermarket in the Lackawanna Plaza redevelopment, Fourth Ward residents are wondering when they will see a groundbreaking — and a supermarket. 

The MC Hotel is booking overnight guests, taking dinner reservations for the Allegory restaurant and welcoming locals to the lobby bar as of today, Aug.15.
