Mayor Sean Spiller has appointed a COVID-19 Recovery Task Force composed of residents and representatives of small businesses and nonprofits, as a kind of think tank to analyze pandemic-related issues in Montclair and come up with solutions.
Originally Montclair’s law was intended to apply to any store over 2,500 square feet, but it was amended to encompass only stores that are over 20,000 square feet due to pushback from smaller businesses.
After a first attempt at closing streets July 17-19, officials decided to hold off another closure to address concerns of overcrowding and the lack of visitors in masks.
