Principal says the Civics and Government Institute isn’t canceled “nor will its scope and design be changed in any way that detracts from its long-held academic standards and rigor.”

A letter from Montclair High School's principal said the program would be reimagined, and restarted with a new name and direction.

“I am looking forward to working with district leadership and the Montclair High School community to ensure that all students have the opportunity to engage in daily, rigorous learning experiences that result in the highest level of social, emotional and academic success,” Freeman said. 

On Friday, Oct. 30, officials announced that Dr. Terry Trigg-Scales was stepping down as interim principal as of that day. Assistant Principal Eileen Gilbert will serve as interim principal in the meantime.
