The Honor Guard of MPD follows the antique cars as Montclair's 69th Independence Day Parade rolls up Midland Ave., July 4, 2019
Montclair’s 69th Independence Day Parade, 2019

Montclair’s Fourth of July parade is returning this year and will be dedicated to the memory of the late Al Pelham. It will feature marching bands, floats, public officials and two grand marshals: Toni’s Kitchen and the Human Needs Food Pantry.

Community groups, businesses and organizations are invited to march in the parade to show their community spirit and pride. In addition, the parade organizers are seeking donations and sponsors to help fund the cost of the festivities. A fundraising event will take place on Thursday, June 9, at Just Jake’s on Park Street from 5 to 8 p.m.

In the parade, senior citizens, soccer kids, PTA parents, local businesses, marching bands, antique cars, veterans, bubble dancers and pranksters with squirt guns will all wind their way through the streets of the township.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for business and individuals who would like to contribute to the region’s largest July 4th celebration. As in year’s past, thousands of spectators are expected to attend.

To participate in the parade, contact Michele Cammarata, director of Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 973-509-4915, mcammarata@montclairnjusa.org. Individuals can donate via Venmo @montclairjuly4. For information on sponsorship tiers and incentives, business and organizations can contact Harry Murphy, treasurer of the Montclair Celebrates July 4th Committee, harryamurphy0146@gmail.com.
