Bonneville is best known for playing Robert Crawley, earl of Grantham, on the British TV series “Downton Abbey.” He was in Montclair to talk about his most recent role, author.

“When Mr. Gill told his story, it was like complete silence in the audience,” Pitch-a-Palooza organizer Arielle Eckstut said. “People had a very emotional response to the story.”

The Montclair Literary Festival will continue its adaptation to the coronavirus pandemic this year, offering a program that consists almost entirely of in-person events May 5 to 9.

Submissions will be accepted via email until midnight on Feb 28. Decisions will be made on March 14.

Memoir is “more than just a music book for music people,” he said.

The festival will take place Oct. 2 to 3, with mostly free events.

Stevie van Zandt, of The Sopranos and Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, will headline the fifth annual festival to be held on October 2 and 3, 2021.
