An underclassmen-filled Montclair High School girls track team came close to bringing home a Super Essex Conference American Division title.

Montclair boys lacrosse was only leading 4-3 at halftime Montclair Kimberley in the battle of the rivals on Friday, March 13. The Mounties would pull away late in the 9-4 victory over the Cougars.

Montclair girls lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaker 8-7, at West Essex in the county tournament championship game on Tuesday, May 10.

Montclair High School boys lacrosse dropped a 14-4 decision at Seton Hall Prep in the Essex County Tournament semi-finals. Montclair Kimberley was eliminated from the ECT in the quarterfinals with a 13-3 defeat at second-seeded West Essex on May 3.

The Montclair softball team was 12-4 overall and in first place in the Super Essex Conference Liberty Division.

Second-seeded Montclair defeated third-seeded Caldwell, 12-10, at home on Wednesday, May 4, in the Essex County Tournament semi-finals.

The Montclair High School girls swim team took home the Essex County Championships for a second time in a row, while the boys landed in third.

Led by the seniors, the Montclair High School boys fencing squad took three out of three meets last week, and both they and the girl's team have a lot of young talent as well.

The omicron variant of COVID-19 has made scheduling a juggling act for Montclair athletics directors this winter.
