Montclair Zoning Board of Adjustment

The Montclair Zoning Board has rejected a couple’s appeal of the Historic Preservation Commission's denial of a demolition permit for their home, which they say is riddled with asbestos and is not financially feasible to remediate. 

The group planning to remodel and reopen Montclair’s historic Bellevue Theatre has pulled out — at least temporarily. 

The Bellevue Theater developers plan to create six theaters, more than the four housed previously in the facility when it closed in 2017, but with four hundred fewer seats. 

A planning board member is alleging that a township employee may have intentionally allowed for a much denser housing development than was intended in the Montclair Center Gateway Redevelopment plan for one future Orange Road development.

The township zoning board has ruled in favor of allowing for 46 units to be built in a new mixed-use development at 33-37 Orange Road.
