More than 1,000 health-care workers at Mountainside hospital in Montclair have received at least their first doses of coronavirus vaccine, about a month after they first became available. That still leaves about 700 staffers who haven’t.

Essex County has six facilities opening up. For Montclair residents, the vaccine is being offered at the former Kmart building on Prospect Avenue in West Orange.
All indoor youth and adult sports will be suspended starting on Dec. 5, and continuing through Jan. 2, and outdoor gatherings will be reduced further, to 25 people starting on Dec. 7.
Settlement documents dated Thursday, Oct. 30, obtained from the Office of the Attorney General, state that the New Jersey Department of Health agreed to lift an Oct. 9 closure order issued against the restaurant for 10 executive order violations, as long as the restaurant abides by all conditions of New Jersey’s executive orders going forward.
The announcement on Oct. 26 comes as New Jersey sees new COVID-19 case numbers exceed 1,000 a day. Saturday, Oct. 24, saw the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,994 since early May.
The restaurant was cited for violating state executive orders against indoor dining on three occasions on Aug. 7, Aug. 23 and Oct. 4. In August, prior to the state allowing indoor dining, police and Montclair Health Department officials were called to the restaurant for reports of patrons dining inside the restaurant.
