Outdoor dining is extended for two more years.

It's one of several nearby breweries taking part in the state's "Shot and a Beer" program.

Montclair had been a flashpoint last year, when Cuban Pete's wouldn't comply with restrictions.

Some Montclair restaurants are offering takeout Thanksgiving Day meals and/or dining in on Thanksgiving, according to Montclair Center BID.  

As the weather turns cold, Montclair restaurants must now contend with winter as well as the challenges presented by COVID-19 restrictions.

Murphy acknowledged that the restaurant industry has been experiencing many difficulties over the past six months, and said the state wanted to do what it could to help. 

Montclair restaurants will be welcoming diners back inside this weekend.

On Aug. 31, Gov. Phil Murphy announced that eateries can start offering indoor dining, and movie theaters and indoor performance venues can reopen, but will be subject to capacity limits and social distancing guidelines. 

New Jersey has allowed outdoor dining, but many Montclair restaurants and especially bars continue to struggle with the reduced capacity.
