Montclair’s mayor and council will meet Friday, March 25, just before midnight to vote on a negotiated rent control ordinance and to repeal one that was passed in April 2020, but never went into effect after a group of landlords petitioned to force it to a referendum. 

But a committee of landlords has only until Friday to withdraw a petition that could force the special election. We'll know more Thursday about what happens next.
