At the Sept. 21 Board of Education meeting, families reported that their children were experiencing stress, anxiety and exhaustion from spending long hours in front of a computer, and loneliness from not being with teachers and classmates. 

For a full-time in-state undergraduate, tuition is $6,040 per semester, along with a $48 student government fee and $445 in “mandatory fees,” for a total of about $6,535. 

Ventilation is a factor in the district’s decision, Ponds said. The ventilation systems in the schools are sufficient for a normal school year. But this year, he said, was not a normal school year. 

Under the proposed plan, for students in third grade through 12th, students would be divided into Group A (“Mounties”) and Group B (“Bulldogs”). On Mondays and Tuesdays, Mounties will have in-person instruction, while the Bulldogs have remote instruction. The schedule will then rotate on Thursdays and Fridays, with the Mounties at home and the Bulldogs in school.

Murphy said that not all of the details were finalized, but that the Department of Education would be releasing more information later this week.
