Three catalytic converters were reported stolen in Montclair Monday, April 4, police said.

A catalytic converter was taken during the overnight hours from a 2007 Honda Accord parked on Mission Street and Elmwood Avenue. Another was stolen from a 2004 Honda Pilot parked on Glenridge Avenue, with the theft taking place between March 27 and 30. A third converter was taken from a 2006 Honda Accord on Maple Avenue during the overnight hours.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Tuesday, March 29 — The general contractor for a building under construction on Glenridge Avenue reported that the walls and floors of a unit on the top floor were spray-painted. The individuals who used the spray paint reportedly climbed a fence to gain access to the property.  

Monday, April 4 — The building manager of Upper Montclair Plaza reported that several juvenile males made entry into the building on Saturday evening between 8 and 10 p.m. The walls were sprayed with an unknown liquid and a basket was torn off a door. Surveillance video showed six males in their teens.

Monday, April 4 — A Montclair parking enforcement officer reported that she parked her township vehicle in the parking lot of Quick Check on Valley Road and entered the store to make a purchase. When she returned 10 minutes later, she discovered three of the tires on her vehicle had been slashed.  

MOTOR VEHICLE CRIME

Tuesday, March 29 — A 2018 Porsche Macan was stolen from a driveway on Clinton Avenue. Two individuals were seen exiting a white midsize SUV and entering the Porsche before fleeing the scene in it. The vehicle was recovered the next day, unoccupied, in Freehold.

Thursday, March 31 — A 2021 Ford Bronco was stolen from a lot on Walnut Street. Surveillance video shows an individual approach and steal the vehicle at approximately 3:30 a.m. 

Friday, April 1 — A complainant reported that while working as a valet on Church Street, a gray BMW with New York registration pulled up along the valet booth. An unknown male exited the BMW, approached the booth and attempted to take several keys. The man was chased away and entered the BMW, which fled west on Church Street. He was described as 19 to 22 years old, 5 feet and 6 inches tall, with medium-length braided hair and wearing a dark color sweatshirt and blue jeans. The BMW was reported stolen out of Livingston.

Monday, April 4 — A 2015 Jeep Cherokee was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Mission Street. Upon arrival by officers, the vehicle was found to be abandoned. It was reported stolen out of East Orange.

ARRESTS

Wednesday, March 30 — A 30-year-old male from Irvington was charged with receiving stolen property and contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop.

Sunday, April 3 — A 32-year-old male from Montclair was charged with disorderly conduct following a disturbance on Bloomfield Avenue.
