Two Montclair residents are facing charges as a result of a motor vehicle accident early Sunday morning.
The rollover accident on South Mountain Avenue resulted in charges against both the driver, Anthony Singh, 46, and the passenger, Argirios Karydes, 34, according to the Montclair Police Department.
The police and the Montclair Fire Department responded to a report of an accident on South Mountain Avenue at 2:46 a.m., according to Deputy Chief Robert Duncan. Units arrived on scene to find an overturned vehicle that had left the road near the Bloomfield Avenue intersection.
Police said that officers arriving on the scene saw two car wheels lying in the street, and that the vehicle was found rolled over onto its roof in a yard on South Mountain Avenue.
Duncan said via email that MFD units used the jaws of life and other equipment to extricate the driver and passenger from the vehicle. The Montclair Ambulance Unit took both occupants to area hospitals.
Singh was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said. Karydes, who was also the vehicle’s registered owner, was charged under the DWI statute for permitting an intoxicated person to operate his vehicle.
