Vehicle strikes Montclair firefighter in the hand
Police are investigating after a motorist’s vehicle apparently struck a Montclair firefighter’s left hand on Monday.
Police Lt. David O’Dowd said on Tuesday that the incident occurred when firefighters saw a vehicle driving erratically on Valley Road at 9:15 a.m., and the vehicle came to a stop in traffic outside the firehouse there.
O’Dowd said that a firefighter exited the fire truck and attempted to speak with the driver, indicated to be a 22-year-old Lanoka Harbor man, but the driver drove off.
The vehicle’s mirror struck the firefighter’s left hand as it left, but O’Dowd said that there were no reported injuries.
