A 41-year-old Verona man was killed on Monday, May 22, in a traffic accident on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, according to acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Montclair Police Chief Todd Conforti.
The victim, Aaron Minkov, was driving a scooter when he collided with a truck at 1:44 p.m., according to a news release from the Essex County Prosecutor’s office. Minkov was pronounced dead at 2 p.m.
“I am pained about the terrible accident yesterday on Bloomfield Avenue, which took the life of a man on a scooter, and offer my deep condolences to the family of Mr. Minkov, as well as concern for the driver of the truck in the center of our busy downtown,” Third Ward Councilor Lori Price Abrams said.
“I am heartened to know that the township is underway in the creation of a framework of solutions,” she said. “I joined in sponsoring a resolution to establish the Vision Zero Task Force with broad representation across a spectrum of expertise and experience, and with the goal to study and implement policies to get to zero fatalities and serious accidents by 2028. We can’t get this done fast enough.”
