Wiffle Ball fans came together Sept. 25 at Nishuane Field for The Montclair Baseball Softball Club’s Inaugural Wiffle Ball Tournament. Thirty seven teams and more than 120 players ranging in age from 8 to 65 years old enjoyed competing in the iconic plastic ball and bat game.

Local sponsors from Montclair helped support the fundraising event, organized to fund the Montclair Baseball and Softball Club 11U team’s trip to Cooperstown next summer.

The club worked closely with Montclair’s recreation department for the event.

The Junior and Senior Championship games were highlighted by expert live commentary from MLB Network’s and Montclair’s own Harold Reynolds and Greg Amsinger. Reynolds and Amsinger had fans simultaneously roaring in laughter and reveling in the excitement of the event.

The Montclair Myths dominated The Dingers in the final. Glenfield Middle schoolers Sam Reich, Asher Seawell, Tom Diomedi and Ben Winston went undefeated in the tournament and walked away with the coveted gold wiffle ball and glove trophies.

In the Senior Final, the Slammin’ Sammies marched to victory behind Player of the Tournament Sam Rosen. The team of Montclair High seniors, also including Noah Dnistrian, Jackson Delgado and Lucas Delgado, were too much for their competitors, The Over The Hill Gang.
