Winter registration opens at Adult School of Montclair Public Library
Winter registration is open for classes at the Adult School of Montclair Public Library, with online classes starting Tuesday, Jan. 19.
A diverse lineup of classes will open the Winter 2021 term of the Adult School of Montclair with subjects covering languages, music, iPhone photography, personal growth, gardening, health, meditation, fitness, writing, personal finance/retirement, career development among other areas.
In response to a difficult and tumultuous 2020 for Montclair and the surrounding area, there will be a package of classes intended to help students adjust to 2021: “New Year, New You: Moving Forward in 2021,” “Navigating and Managing Your Career in a Virtual Job Market” and even a post-inaugural political primer focused on global affairs in “A New NATO for the Biden Era?”

Wrapping up the January slate will be a free, family-friendly interactive talk entitled, “Physics Answers for All – No Questions Too Big or Small” led by Charles Liu, professor of Astrophysics at CUNY College of Staten Island and an astrophysicist at NYC’s Hayden Planetarium.

African American History and Women’s History will be highlighted in February and March classes, respectively. Black literary achievements will go under the microscope with a series on author and folklorist Zora Neale Hurston while the rich and complex tradition of satire in African American fiction will be analyzed through the work of George Schuyler, Ralph Ellison and Paul Beatty.
