A NJ Transit bus passenger had to be taken to the hospital Monday morning when the bus suddenly braked, causing her to be injured.
Police Lt. David O’Dowd said that the passenger, an adult female, was taken to Mountainside Hospital. He said that the bus had braked suddenly and stopped short, and that there was no second vehicle involved.
The incident happened as the 34 bus was traveling northbound on Orange Road, from downtown Newark to Chestnut Street in Montclair, just after 9 a.m.
Northbound traffic on Orange Road was momentarily rerouted as police and EMTs from the Montclair Ambulance Unit responded to the incident.
