
Zinn propels Montclair High School girls soccer into state sectional semi-finals
Montclair girls soccer moving away from a stunning loss in the county tournament, are now looking to the state sectional semi-finals.
The Mounties took care of business Saturday morning with a 6-0 victory over sixth-seeded Passaic Tech in North 1 Group 4 state quarterfinals behind sophomore Morgane Zinn who registered a hat trick.
Third-seeded Montclair (14-1-1) will travel to Super Essex Conference rival, second-seeded West Orange on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2 p.m.
Since a 2-1 defeat to Glen Ridge in the Essex County Tournament semi-finals, the Mounties have outscored their opponents 15-0 in the state playoffs.
For Zinn, It was back-to-back hat tricks for the sophomore who also registered the feat against Union City in the first round of the state sectionals on Oct. 26 in the 9-0 victory.
Along with the three goals from Zinn, Montclair received a goal each from junior Lucy Parker, sophomore Charlotte Dia and senior Sonia Neighbors in the victory over Passaic Tech.
For Montclair they tied West Orange at 3-3 in the season opener on Sept. 8 in Montclair. The Mounties led 2-1 at halftime before the Mountaineers evened it up by the time regulation ended.
