boyLeslie Granda-Hill is a woman on a mission. She has traveled the world and all over New Jersey for her work as a photographer, and her work is seen in publications large and small. And, like so many residents in our area,  she has special projects and causes close to her heart. One very special organization for Leslie is Casa de Hogar, an orphanage in Morelia, Mexico. In past visits, Leslie has photographed the children living there with her usual artistry and with a loving eye. Leslie is returning to Casa de Hogar in early February, and she would appreciate help to bring back a little of her home to the children who live at Casa de Hogar.

Many of the children residing at Casa de Hogar face physical and emotional challenges. Some children use wheelchairs for mobility, some children have developmental disabilities, others are blind. As several children have come to the orphanage from abusive homes, emotional development and well-being is a challenge the orphanage faces on a regular basis.

group copyLeslie will be returning to Casa de Hogar in February, and she wants to bring some hard-to-find items to the children. We take many of these items for granted: Band-Aids, fever reducers, toothbrushes and toothpaste, Crayola markers, Neosporin, stencils, pencils and sharpeners, coloring books, and – poignantly – canes for the blind. Leslie explained simply, “Basically anything you can imagine that these kids, many with severe disabilities, would need.”  If you would like to donate items, please contact Leslie at her email address. She will provide drop-off information, or she will pick them up from you by February 8th.

Of course, monetary donations are also greatly appreciated. Make checks out to: City of Lights Church (memo to “Casa Hogar Benito Juarez”).

What distinguishes the El Buen Pastoral Fund from other tax deductible organizations is that all donated funds go directly to the welfare of the children. There are no administrative expenses of any kind: all expenses are paid personally by the Board of Directors of the El Buen Pastoral Fund.

If you prefer to send items yourself, send checks to: City Light Church 2140 S, Hwy 3, Northfield, MN, 55057  Earmark checks: Casa Hogar Benito Juarez. If you prefer PayPal, it’s even easier. See this link.
