Montclair Film Festival Kidz Shortz

Talented young filmmakers were celebrated last night at the Montclair Film Festival 2013 Kidz Shortz award ceremony.

One hundred and eleven young registrants from three countries, 23 states and 17 different towns in New Jersey submitted their films in this year’s competition!

The difficult part of choosing the winners was put upon this year’s jury, which included Chris Gifford, Co-Creator/Executive Producer, Dora The Explorer; Anneka Jones, Head of Development, LEFT/RIGHT; Lisa B. Martin, Media Services Supervisor, College of St. Elizabeth; Anthony Pemberton, Independent Filmmaker and Associate Professor, Department of Communications and Media, Montclair State University; Lucas Platt, Television Producer; Gary Schneider, Director Education, Montclair Art Museum; and Michael Uslan, Executive Producer, Batman; The Dark Knight trilogy.

The Clubhouse was decked out in stars for the winners, their winning films were screened in the upstairs screening room, and for the second year in a row, Roscoe Orman, best known for playing Gordon on Sesame Street, hosted the ceremony and handed out the trophies.

This year’s winners received free digital filmmaking classes at the Montclair Art Museum and their films will screen during the annual Montclair Film Festival, on Sunday, May 5 on a big screen.
