mesob plateOne of Montclair’s finest restaurants, Mesob, is marking the Ethiopian New Year with its annual “all you can eat” buffet on this Wednesday evening.

Enkutatash, as the festival is called, means “gift of jewels” and is celebrated by Ethiopian Orthodox Christians, who follow the Julian calendar.

The buffet will include some of Mesob’s most popular dishes: Minchet Aletcha (finely chopped prime beef), Doro Wat (tender chicken legs), and Ye’Dinch Selata (diced fresh beets and potatoes with Mesob’s special house dressing). Also on the menu are my personal favorites, the delectable Ingudai Tibs (portobello mushrooms), and Gomen (fresh collard greens simmered in a mild sauce seasoned with spices and herbs).

Happy Enkutatash, area foodists and SWEF’s!
