Did you know that there are two secret gardens growing in Glen Ridge at this moment? One is Glen Ridge’s own Freeman Gardens, located at the corner of Hawthorne and Maolis Avenues. Freeman Gardens is a beautiful garden nestled in the middle of Glen Ridge.

The other garden is Gas Lamp Players’ production of the Tony award winning musical, The Secret Garden, currently in rehearsals for performances on November 22nd– 24th. The musical is based on the classic novel by Francis Hodgson Burnett.

During this special production, Gas Lamp Players is sponsoring a “Help our Garden Grow” fundraiser to benefit the Freeman Gardens and support young people as they grow through the arts with the Gas Lamp Players’ Scholarship fund.

Participate by purchasing a rose — $20 for a basic rose, or $50 for a large rose. This “rose garden” will be displayed in the lobby of the Ridgewood Avenue School Theater during The Secret Garden performances on Nov. 22nd – 24th. The names of the sponsors will be placed on a leaf of the rose and will also be listed in the program as a “Gardener of Support”.
