Immaculate Conception High School in MontclairImmaculate Conception High School in Montclair received word that the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark will close the Catholic, co-educational high school at the end of June. The school has been in operation since 1925. Reasons given were a steady decline in enrollment  and continuously growing debt.

The school community is upset and has started a fundraising effort  to try and save the school. Donations can be made online here (If this effort fails, 95% of all donations will be refunded. Gofundme.com keeps the other 5%.)

“It’s hard to take this news, especially when the diocese has no problem spending millions building a mansion for the bishop to retire into.” one ICHS alum told Barista Kids.
