Northeast School Participates in Reading Initiative

Northeast Elementary School, along with special guest, “Jack the Jackal,” (pictured above with Mike Berhang, Director of Group Sales and Operations, and Northeast Principal, Cenithia Bilal) kicked off a reading initiative program during a school assembly on this month. “Jack the Jackal” is the mascot for the NJ Jackals, a professional baseball team in the Can-Am League that plays at Yogi Berra Stadium on the campus of Montclair State University.

The school, with support from Northeast’s School Action Team for Partnerships, is taking part in the NJ Jackals’ “Hit the Books” reading program. Each student will receive incentives for completing four reading assignments between April 6 and June 1. Among the prizes are a skating voucher at Floyd Hall Arena at Montclair State, a Jackals wristband and a grand prize of complimentary tickets to a NJ Jackals game on Sun., June 14.

The Northeast community will use their Jackals tickets, together as a group on June 14, to watch the NJ Jackals take on Japan Shikoko.
