Apple Village, a design-centric children’s shop, has come to Montclair with a wonderful collection of unique and fun items. The store is beautiful, bright and spacious, allowing shoppers to browse and take their time to look at the variety of unusual items not seen elsewhere. This is definitely not the children’s department at your local big-box!
Everywhere you look, there’ something to catch your eye. The walls are covered in décor and gift items that could fit in any child’s room. The wooden wall clocks, available in a variety of animal and nature designs, are the perfect mix of fun and function. The sign designed to look like an eye chart with the phrase, “YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL,” was another stand out. If you’re looking for a bedroom theme of dinosaurs, animals or ABCs, you will find no shortage of items to round out any bedroom or playroom.
Apple Village has partnered with Oeuf furniture and carries their entire line of quality, eco-friendly children’s furniture. The items are made of sustainable materials and have an intuitive design. The clean lines and subtle coloring allows the furniture to be an investment as a child grows and interests change.
The room décor is very kid-friendly and appealing, but it also will appeal to the adult eye. A nursery can easily become a big-kid room with these items. In fact, adults may find they also appreciate the items and want to hang them in their own space!
The items in the store were selected with a focus on fair trade and handmade design. Many of the products were chosen from Etsy artists which yield an individuality you don’t see in larger retail shops. The recycled sari blankets are a particularly interesting item. They are truly one-of-a-kind, as each double-sided piece is handmade.
The selection of toys, books and clothing also makes Apple Village a great place to shop for gift items. From new baby to birthdays to holidays, there is something for every little person. You’ll find puzzle blocks, crocheted rattles in monster and truck shapes, Sunggly Ugly tooth Fairy Pillows, onesies, and more. A dinosaur dreaming of bacon t-shirt is sure to become a favorite!
On Sunday, September 13, Apple Village will host a Grand Opening Party from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The event is still in the planning stages, but there will be fun for kids and it will be a great opportunity to check out the store and all the fabulous items inside.
