The Best Local Thing I Ever AteIn our column, The Best Local Thing I Ever Ate, we ask local chefs, restaurant owners, and food lovers to share their favorite dish in the area. These are the kind of meals that you crave, dream about, salivate over. The meals that you order over and over again.

This month we talk breakfast:

Robin Woods raves about MishMish (215 Glenridge Avenue, Montclair), and one dish in particular:

MishMish

I had the most delicious, creamy scrambled eggs with salmon at MishMish on Glenridge Avenue. It was so good, I’m going back again today with a colleague to try it again. It came with a green salad and toasted English muffin. Perfection would have been with a bagel, but that’s just being fussy! MishMish is one of my new favorite local restaurants. I usually go for spicy and exotic foods, but this is a dish I’ll crave forever. That says a lot, since I’m not much of an egg eater. It’s also a plus for me that they have almond milk for my coffee, and don’t charge extra for it. Friendly, attentive service. The owner is a real doll!

the corner

Judy from Montclair starts her day with this hearty and healthy start. “Decadent but healthy, the Avocado Toast at The Corner is to die for!”

red eye cafe

Nicholas Hernandez  loves the Seussian breakfast at Red Eye Cafe. “I love Red Eye Cafe in Montclair. The Green Eggs and Ham is incredible and I always order it when I go, along with a French Vanilla Latte. Their coffee is one of the best in North Jersey.”
