Small Business Saturday

With Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 24, the official holiday shopping season begins the next day. We say forget about Black Friday, ditch the crowded malls, and shop locally on Saturday. You’ll support small businesses and get unique gifts for your loved ones.

A nationwide event, Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 to help small businesses get more exposure during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. The day encourages people to shop at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The single day has grown into a powerful movement, and more people are taking part than ever before. This year, the big day is November 26 and Montclair shops are excited to participate.

In Montclair Center, businesses will be having special events and sales all day so you can chat, snack, dance and exercise downtown! Enjoy free refreshments & treats, deals at restaurants (a free bun at Ani Ramen!), free classes, and really great deals. Click here for the list of participating businesses and all the great deals offered (There’s a ton, like this fun “Sip and Shop” party at ESBB!)

Plus, the YMCA is offering childcare for a flat fee from 6-10 pm that evening so parents can enjoy Montclair Center restaurants.  Fees are $30/members and $40/nonmembers (with $15 for each additional sibling).  Space is limited, register at (973) 783-7640.
