No one was injured in an early-morning fire on Montague Place on Thursday.
The Montclair Fire Department received a call about the fire at 1:42 a.m., according to a notice released by the department. Units arrived  to find heavy fire coming out from beneath the roof on the left side of the house, and the fire was brought under control within an hour. The third floor sustained complete fire damage, and there was water damage on the first and second floors. Mutual aid units from Clifton, West Orange, Bloomfield and East Orange responded to assist while units from Orange, Verona and Cedar Grove provided fire coverage for the rest of the town.
The house was deemed uninhabitable, and the Red Cross responded to assist the residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
