The Montclair Cooperative School, 65 Chestnut Street in Montclair, will host an Open Chess Tournament on Sunday, June 18. Doors open 8 a.m., first round begins 9 a.m. Fee is $40 at the door.
All students in grades 1-8, from any school, are eligible to compete. Trophies and ribbons will be awarded for top place finishers.
The event is an unrated, five-round Swiss tournament (G/15). There will be two sections: Section I for first to third graders, and Section II for fourth to eighth graders.
