A Montclair woman is in stable condition after being stabbed in what police describe as a domestic violence incident.

Police Lt. David O’Dowd said that police responded to a residence at 11 a.m. on Monday on a report of a stabbing. There, officers learned that the victim, a 46-year-old woman, had gone to a local hospital for treatment. It was determined that she had been stabbed numerous times with a knife.

The alleged perpetrator, a 40-year-old Montclair man, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses. Police did not release the name of the alleged perpetrator or where the incident was reported to have taken place.

The incident is under investigation.
