DEERKILL DAY CAMP

What: Deerkill Day Camp is a 3rd-generation family-owned day camp for boys and girls age 3 to 15 in Rockland County, New York. Owned and directed by the Rhodes Family since 1958, Deerkill has been the summer home for campers from throughout Manhattan, Rockland, Bergen, Orange, Hoboken and Montclair for over half a century. Deerkill Day Camp is a smaller ACA-accredited day camp that offers a warm and supportive environment on a beautiful 15 acre campus. Deerkill offers a superb swimming program, team sports and a dozen specialty programs in the creative and performing arts. Transportation is by air-conditioned minibus. Hot lunches, towels, supplies, trips and a weekend pool club are included. No tipping allowed.

SPRING LAKE DAY CAMP

YMCA OF MONTCLAIR-CAMP AT THE LAKE

What: Camp at the Lake offers swim lessons, sports, crafts, nature, science, outdoor survival skills, hiking, archery, low ropes challenge, music, boating and fishing. This American Camp Association accredited camp provides children with exciting adventures, cooperative learning and tons of fun! Campers express their creativity, unleash their boundless energy, learn new skills and develop meaningful relationships. FREE transportation provided from bus stops in Montclair, Upper Montclair, Verona, Cedar Grove, Bloomfield, West Orange, and Clifton.

Camp Riverbend

Who: Kids ages 3 – 14.
What: Camp Riverbend is located in Somerset County on a 30-acre site along the Passaic River in Warren Township. Shady woods, open fields, nature trails, a wetlands sanctuary, athletic facilities and the river bank provide a variety of environment to explore. Camp Riverbend provides a wide range of activities, including arts and crafts, sports, environmental learning and performing arts. Every camper gets individual attention from instructors and group counselors.

Deer Mountain Day Camp

What: A state-licensed facility, located on a beautiful 22-acre campus, is designed to help children develop skills in sports, arts and crafts, drama, swimming and science. Willow Lake Day Camp
Where: 200 State Route 181, Lake Hopatcong, NJ
Who: Kids and teens ages 3 – 15.
What: Willow Lake has developed age appropriate programs which ensures each child has a healthy, safe and fun experience. Campers thrive in our dynamic program which continues to grow with them each summer as they get older. Our activities and equipment are specifically designed to fit the needs of campers of all ages and skill levels. Willow Lake’s modern fleet of air-conditioned 16 and 25 seat school buses (they do not use big buses) is carefully routed to ensure the shortest ride to and from camp each day. Each bus is driven by a professional New Jersey CDL certified driver who has also undergone an intensive Willow Lake orientation as well. YOGI BERRA MUSEUM BASEBALL CAMP

Who:
 Boys ages 7-13.
What: The Museum’s baseball camp is directed by Andrew Mulvey, baseball coach at Wardlaw-Hartridge High School, whose staff includes top collegiate baseball players as instructors. Through specialized stations and game competition, the camps focus on fun and fundamentals – while providing instruction in proper hitting, bunting, pitching, baserunning, fielding, position play and more. Harold Reynolds, former major-league All-Star second baseman, will make special appearances throughout the camp week providing instruction.

YOGI BERRA MUSEUM SOFTBALL CAMP

What: The Museum’s 2018 softball camp is directed by Anita Kubicka, the all-time winningest coach in Montclair State softball history. Anita is currently entering her 28th season with the Red Hawks. During her tenure at MSU, Kubicka has produced 38 All-Americans, while setting numerous University and NCAA records. Designed for ages 7-13, the YBMLC softball camp develops player skills in pitching, catching, fielding, hitting, and more. YMCA OF MONTCLAIR-CAMP YBA: YOUTH BASKETBALL ALL-STARS

What: Youth Basketball All Stars Camp (YBA) is the perfect place for your basketball enthusiast. YBA is an intense program for basketball players of varying abilities. Campers further develop their skills, learn game strategies and achieve goals on and off the court. Each day is spent improving fundamentals, performing interactive drills, building offensive and defensive skills, playing in house tournaments and getting in shape. Campers may register for as many weeks of the program as they like.

Diamond Gymnastics

New Jersey Jackals NIKE Baseball Camp

What: At camp, campers are instructed by the New Jersey Jackal coaches and will be taught the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, base-running, team plays and more! New York NFL Alumni HeroesYouth Football Camps

Who: The Comprehensive Skills Camp is for newcomers ages 6-14.  The Accelerated Skills Camp is for experienced players ages 9-14.
What:Football fit for kids! Camps provide safe, non-contact instruction for kids ages 6-14 years old.  Kids learn to run, throw, catch, defend and compete the NFL Alumni Heroes way.   Each camp focuses on developing athletic skills, football skills and life skills while the kids have a blast playing the great game of football. Within the skill development goals, teaching USA Football’s Heads Up Football curriculum a top priority for the tackle-bound players.  In a safe, non-contact format, Heads Up teaches the proper techniques for blocking and tackling so they play better, safer football. With support from New York Giants Alumni Heroes like Stephen Baker, Scott Brunner, Chris Calloway, Rod Hampton and Curtis McGriff, New York NFL Alumni Heroes Youth Football Camps will visit Montclair’s Sports Domain Academy for a week of football instruction and fun.

What: At the Dave Masur Soccer Kid program, participants will improve their soccer skills in a friendly and fun filled environment. SURF AND TURF ADVENTURES CAMP

Where: Pickup and drop off at Edgemont Park in Montclair every day.
Who: Children ages 10 – 15.  We have a Junior Camp built within (Surf and Turf Jr.)
What:  Day and overnight trips with qualified, full-time teachers, EMT’s, and lifeguards of Montclair. There is a daily adventure and road trip  to various outdoor events surrounding the Metropolitan area and beyond. We have been to the Grand Canyon and Canada as well as many states which include rafting, paintballing, swimming, hiking, and site-seeing. Check out the Schedule for this years itinerary.

What: Each week this ultra-spirited camp hits the road, not once but twice to explore local attractions and beyond.Different exciting themes guide each week’s activities and trips. Explorers is set in the traditional YMCA style of offering a variety of engaging, exciting activities each and every day.

Your camper will travel on special adventures this summer throughout the New York Metro Area: visiting Splashplex at the Funplex, the Museum of the Moving Image, the New York Aquarium,  or going to the High Exposure Rock Climbing, Ninja Warrior & Parkour Gym, just to name a few.

When not traveling, campers participate in a daily schedule of art, science, cooking, sports, outdoor education and more in our air conditioned camp base. Campers will also travel to our Park Street location by bus three times per week for recreational swim. But wait there’s more! On Wacky Wednesdays we celebrate by getting wacky–dressing like witches and wizards, wearing silly socks, having crazy hair or dressing wild and crazy according to the weekly theme. And on Fridays, we host special events like Explorers Luau, International Festival and Color Wars.

MONTCLAIR ART MUSEUM YARD SCHOOL OF ART

Rutgers Design Camp – Level I & II
Where: All camp activities are held on the Douglass Campus of Rutgers University.  Nicholas Music Center and Marryott Music Building are where majority of camp activities are held.
Who: Ages 14-18
What: Design Camp seeks to develop skills in graphic design for motivated high school artists. Created and supervised by Mason Gross faculty, the curriculum focuses on core principles of design while also introducing relevant software. The course includes focused studio work, technical demonstrations, group critiques and a field trip to New York City. Students will become familiar with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign while exploring creative visual problems and producing work suitable for a college admissions portfolio. The emphasis is on building visual awareness and on making the software serve the designer’s creative vision. Design Camp also features a Portfolio Workshop addressing how to present work effectively for college admissions. Design Camp uses traditional classroom space as well as top-notch computer lab facilities in the Department of Visual Arts at the Mason Gross School of the Arts on the New Brunswick Campus of Rutgers University.

Each session features a concert and master class with a professional, visiting artist ensemble and concludes with a performance featuring student ensembles. Jazz House Summer Workshop

Lydia Johnson Dance Camp
Where: The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts, 10 Durand Road, Maplewood, NJ

What: Under the direction of choreographer Lydia Johnson, LJD company members and teaching artists will lead small groups through a varied day of creative dance including Dance Technique, Choreography, and Survey of Contemporary Dance, with guest artists teaching jazz and hip hop. The day includes a Choreography Workshop in which the campers create their own dances to show friends and families. An extended day is now offered in partnership with Geralyn’s Art Studio so campers can dance in the morning and create visual art work in the afternoons for a full day of the arts. Petite Equestrian Program

Who: Ages 3 – 7
What: Participants will learn safety on and around the ponies, grooming techniques, basic riding skills, and other primary horsemanship skills. While this is not a Horseback Riding lesson per say, the program includes an exciting riding component whereas each child will get to ride about 20 minutes and learn how to properly mount, dismount, hold the reins and control the horse/pony at the walk and a few steps of trot. Sessions aim to help develop confidence and motor – coordination skills while providing a supportive, fun, non-threatening environment for the participants as well as social interaction between them. This is a participatory program for parents who so desire so one may be asked to occasionally lend a hand. Parents/guardians must stay on location during the program. The perfect preparation for private or semi-private lessons for eager young aspiring equestrians! Course materials are provided.

Pony Grooming Riding & Program

What: This unique program provides an exciting and inexpensive hands-on introduction to the wonderful world of equines in a fun-filled, non-threatening atmosphere. PonyShare uses camp-trained ponies and cobs, smaller and easier to handle than their larger equine counterparts. Small groups of 4-5 children are formed according to age and prior experience – if any. After reviewing safety rules, materials previously covered and learning new subject matter, participants are assigned their size-related pony or cob and each small group works under the tutelage of a qualified and motivated Counselor. Some of the horsemanship matters covered include: Safety on and around the horses, Basic Anatomy, Equine Senses & Body Language, Grooming, The Tack and Harness, Driving the Miniature Horse, English & Western styles, Barn Management and Careers in the Industry. Participants also get to shortly ride or drive their charges for about 20 minutes during each session. This program enhances team work, self-esteem and camaraderie while helping develop a genuine appreciation and respect for the animals. Course materials are provided.

YMCA OF MONTCLAIR-SUMMER QUEST LEADERSHIP CAMP

What: Teens today are already equipped with the desire to work, earn money and be independent. The YMCA knows this because we have hired a few Quest graduates! Quest gives teens the skills and know-how to enter the workforce with confidence, leadership and experience. Counselors work with the campers in creative and skills based ways. After two weeks of hands on learning, the teens get to put their newly acquired skills to the test by interning for two weeks in a camp working with kids or within the Y Membership Department. They receive ongoing supervision, role-modeling and feedback for their camp and future portfolio. Teens will go on one field trip per session.

Elephant Tree Nature Camp

ULI4YW offers a unique summer experience that guides young women through a Creative Self Discovery Process and Practice of becoming Self-Empowered, Self-Loving, Self-Sustainable Social Justice Artist-Activists who understand the value of Shared Leadership.  Utilizing the Expressive Arts, they will explore what it means to share leadership and reflect on their own life stories to better understand what shaped them as a person and how they can shape society together. ULI4YW nurtures the Ubuntu Artist/Activist that values Self, Source and Other and encourages the quest for radical kindness, self knowledge and social justice, the practice of self care and the celebration of sisterhood among and within young women of color in particular, and all young women in general.

The range of choices includes creative classes, academic enrichment, games, sports, and more. COLLEGE APPLICATION CAMP

Where: On the campus of Montclair State University, Montclair
Who: Rising high school seniors intent on writing memorable college application essays before the start of senior year.
What: Four-day program focused on developing and writing the 650-word personal essay for the Common Application, with daily one-on-one coaching support from professional writers and writing instructors. (While geared to the Common App, program can accommodate other application platforms as well.) Students will also create an academic/extracurricular résumé and practice their interviewing skills.
When: Two sessions Summer 2018: Session 1—June 25 to 28; Session 2—July 30 to August 2. Program runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Space is limited.

The Gifted Child Society (TGCS)
Where: Summer Super Stars Camp STEAM – Northern Highlands Regional High School, 298 Hillside Avenue, Allendale, NJ.
Who:  Gifted children in pre-K through 8th grade participate in TGCS programs such as Camp STEAM, after meeting eligibility requirements. Participants must be four years or older and diagnosed as gifted. TGCS offers giftedness screening/IQ test assessment services at our Allendale office.
Eligibility: Once diagnosed as gifted, eligible gifted children becomes a Member of TGCS and is then welcome to participate in all the special programs and services TGCS has to offer. TGCS Membership is in effect from January 1 through December 31 of each calendar year and must be renewed annually.  TGCS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and has served nearly 70,000 gifted children in New Jersey and its surrounding areas. The US Department of Education named TGCS a national demonstration model.
What: TGCS offers unique enrichment programs including Summer Super Stars Camp STEAM day camp (academic + recreational); The Saturday Workshop Spring/Fall; Middle School Pre-Grad Program (prep for high school and college); TGCS Ambassador Program; Giftedness Screening Services (IQ tests/ assessments); Parent & Guardian (P.A.G.E.) Workshops for families; Gifted Education Training (G.E.T.) for educators and school administrators; and outreach efforts in our communities. YMCA OF MONTCLAIR-ACE: ACADEMIC CAMP EXPERIENCE

What:
 Research has shown that during the summer months, students can lose up to 6 months of school work- putting them behind in September when they go back to school. A.C.E. camp is an academic camp that not only has kids going up the summer slide, but it is done in a creative way so it feels like camp and not summer school. A.C.E. camp uses themes and plans accordingly, incorporating them into the math, reading and literacy classes. Included is science, art, music, physical play and one field trip per session (Friday).
When:
 July 2–July 20 (no camp July 4) and July 23-August 10 (2 three-week sessions). Hours: 9:00 am–4:00 pm.
Cost:
 $750 per three-week session. Before Care Hours: 8:30 am–9:00 am (additional fee of $10 per week). After Care Hours: 4:00 pm–6:00 pm (additional fee of $75 per week).

YMCA OF MONTCLAIR-GAP: GAINING ACADEMICS PROGRAM

Who: Ages 6-10 (students entering 1st-4th grade students for the 2018/2019 school year)
What: G.A.P. camp helps bridge the gap between the summer months and the new school year. It prepares the campers to return back to school more confident and with increased skills. G.A.P. focuses on reading, writing and math in an engaging and hands on way-it is camp after all! If you need your camper to be entertained in the afternoon, the YMCA’s Summer Sparks Camp offers enrichment workshops from 1:15-5:15 at the same location. If registering for a Summer Sparks afternoon workshop, students must bring a lunch in addition to their snacks.
When: July 2-July 13 (no camp July 4), July 16-July 27, July 30-August 10 (3 two-week sessions). Hours: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm.

What: At Destination Science, kids can design and build robo-chameleons, make scabs and pus, grow a life-size model of their brains, and create soccer cyborgs using CSI. Kids also will find out how sound waves and electricity become music as they build their own portable digital music system. The summer camp is committed to creating a spirit of teamwork, as kids are rewarded for helping their peers throughout the day, learning the power of community, collaboration and character development.

International Ivy Summer Program

Who: Programs for kids ages 5 – 14.

There are plenty of choices across many disciplines so kids explore what they are interested in. Our ultimate goal is to help our students find their passion.
