Where do you live? Montclair

When did you move there? 2011, from Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan

Where did you grow up? Northwest Jersey

How do you make a living? OR What is your everyday passion?

I work part-time as a professor and student advisor at Montclair State University but I am now also a DJ! I love being a DJ for my side-gig. It is a lot of fun and allowed me to turn my passion for music into more than just a hobby. I DJ as Blissedout Beats for private parties, fundraisers, club nights and I absolutely love it. I just wish I had found my talent for it sooner in life!

Coffee, tea or … ? Coffee from LOCAL or tea at home in the winter when I need to warm up in my cold, drafty, old house!

What’s your idea of a perfect weekend day?

Spending the day in the city with my husband and 3 kids doing some kind of fun, weird, interesting activity for the day ending with an ethnic cuisine we have never eaten before. We recently went to an Uzbek restaurant in Brighton Beach.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? Currently on a SLA Thai kick!

What’s on your nightstand? My dusty kindle (sigh) and my iPhone.

What are you listening to?

Lots and lots of different music. I have to constantly keep digging for new music as a DJ. But I have my old favorites too…Radiohead, Courtney Barnett, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar. Been listening to a lot more hip hop lately…Vince Staples, Anderson .Paak. I also really like Kaytranada, Mura Masa. And can’t forget that House Music for club nights!

What are your current indulgences? New DJ gadgets, sneakers.

What talent you would most like to have?

This has been an exciting time in my life with a lot of “firsts”. I started my DJ career and started training in Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts) with my 8 year-old son. I’m feeling satisfied with my talents at the moment! Although, I would love to be a music supervisor for tv/movies.

What do you hope they say about you at your funeral?

That she lived by her personal mantras…

*Always be true to yourself

*Always assume the best in people because you never know what someone is really going through in life

*Always push yourself to try something new and live outside your comfort zone

*There is always a perfect song for every moment!

I also hope they will say that my kids grew up feeling my love and devotion!
