The National Weather Services has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the area, beginning Saturday afternoon and continuing through Sunday with three to six inches of snow and sleet accumulation.
Residents are reminded that parking on snow-covered streets is prohibited by ordinance 327-25. The no parking prohibition remains in effect for a period of 12 hours after snowfall has stopped in order to facilitate snow removal operations. Police will be ticketing and towing vehicles parked on streets during this period.
Residents may park their vehicles free of charge in municipal lots and decks beginning Saturday, 3 p.m., until streets have been cleared of snow. A notice will go out to give people a 12-hour window for removing their vehicles from the lots and decks, once the streets have been cleared.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to report all power outages to PSE&G. Call 800-436-PSEG (7734) or log onto nj.pseg.com/outageandgasleaks to report power outages. Residents can also register for My Aerts with PSE&G to report outages by text message and to receive updates.
Governor Phil Murphy has declared a state of emergency beginning at noon on Saturday ahead of Winter Storm Harper, authorizing the State Director of Emergency Management to activate and coordinate response and recovery efforts.
