All over Montclair there is tree debris being cleared away and on some streets, the loud sound of generators still cranking away. Some 200 Montclair residents were still without power Sunday in 15 outage areas around Montclair (down from 1200 on Saturday) after Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked havoc on Tuesday.

PSE&G has crews working around the clock and has set up drive up comfort stations, but for families without power or a generator for almost a week, the wait is beginning to feel like Hurricane Sandy all over again, but with the added difficulties of summer heat and social distancing. Work has been prioritized so that jobs impacting single houses are supposed to be worked on and finished by Monday — the map is showing 9:45 p.m. tonight as estimated restoration time for many customers, although a cluster close to Anderson Park shows August 13 as the estimate.

Montclair Library and Montclair Art Museum have created outdoor charging spaces and Montclair township has been offering free bagged ice and charging stations at its Municipal Building parking lot at 205 Claremont Ave.
