Kathleen Patricia Richards of Rochester, New York, a former longtime resident of Montclair, died on April 19, 2021, in Rochester, where she lived the past four years. She was 76.

Mrs. Richards was born in 1945 in Grenada and moved to the United States in 1967. She lived the majority of her life in Montclair, where she raised her son, Patrick. In 2017 she moved to Rochester to live with her son and grandsons.  

She retired from her work at Mountainside hospital after 32 years of dedicated service. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Church over several decades, involved in its volunteer activities. 

Mrs. Richards loved to sew and bake for her friends and family, and was known for baking fruitcakes during the holidays. She was a kind and generous friend and community member, and a proud mother and grandmother.  

She is survived by her son, Patrick Richards; grandsons, Preston and Savien Richards, and siblings Rolda, Elton and Cyril.

A viewing and service for family and friends will be held at Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St., on Saturday, May 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. The service will also be livestreamed due to COVID.
