Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival will host renowned storyteller Salman Rushdie, in an online event to talk about his latest book, “Languages of Truth: Essays 2003–2020,” on Tuesday, June 22 at 8 p.m.
In his new book, Rushdie explores the work of authors from Shakespeare and Cervantes to Samuel Beckett, Eudora Welty and Toni Morrison, and what they mean to him, on the page or in person. He delves deeply into the nature of “truth,” and looks anew at migration, multiculturalism, and censorship.
Salman Rushdie is the author of 12 novels including “Midnight’s Children” (for which he won the Booker Prize and the Best of the Booker), “The Satanic Verses,” “The Moor’s Last Sigh,” and “The Ground Beneath Her Feet,” and one collection of short stories, “East, West.” He has also published four works of nonfiction including “Imaginary Homeland.” He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a distinguished writer in residence at New York University. A former president of PEN American Center, Rushdie was knighted in 2007 for services to literature.
