Gladys Todd Mills of Clifton, a 50-year member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Montclair, died on June 7, 2021. She was 93.

Mrs. Mills was born in 1928 in Durant, Mississippi, the youngest of five children of Doctor E. Todd and Olevia Fisher Todd.  Her father, mother and all of her siblings preceded her in death.

On September 24, 1967, she married the late Richard Mills. They moved in February 1969 to New Jersey, where they shared many happy times with family and friends.

In 1994 Mrs. Mills retired from the New York City Board of Education, after 34 years of service.  She did some traveling, but her favorite pastimes were reading and completing The New York Times crossword puzzles, as well as gardening.

After moving to New Jersey, she became a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.  She joined the Noon Day Bible Ministry and the Little Lads Ministry.  She also assisted in the church office when needed. She served as a faithful member until her death.

Mrs. Mills will forever be remembered for her love of God and family, her hats, her grace and her outgoing personality.

She is survived by three nieces, Kathryn Montgomery Smith of Baiting Hollow, New York, Sandra Montgomery of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Patricia A. Dade-Williams (Eric) of Apopka, Florida; one nephew, Samuel M. Dade (Annette) of Apopka; three great-nieces, Jemea Smith Dorsey (Dereke) of Atlanta, Aishah Smith of Brooklyn and Jennifer Medley (Stephen) of Greensboro, and a host of other family and close friends.

Services will be held at St. Paul Baptist Church, 119 Elm St., on Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m, following a wake at 10 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements were by Martin’s Home for Service.
