Whether it’s a Madeleine you crave or something more elaborate, you can find it at Jayce Baudry, a new French pâtisserie serving elegant individual pastries, specialty tarts and cakes, macarons, ice cream, coffee, tea and more on Church Street.

Owned and operated by Jayce Baudry – a Bordeaux-born chef who trained in Paris and Lyon, followed by several years at chef Daniel Boulud’s Michelin starred restaurant DANIEL and gourmet market Épicerie Boulud – the shop focuses on upscale French pastries typically found at cafes throughout France. You’ll find individual classic pastries (St-Honoré, Gâteau Basque, Mont Blanc, Éclair) as well as Jayce Baudry original creations like his Tropical Cake (passion fruit-banana mousse, coconut dacquoise biscuit, roasted pineapple, mango confit).

Larger cakes in a range of sizes are available for special occasions, as well as packaged items perfect for gifting — macarons in creative seasonal flavors, hand-made Valrhona chocolates, French specialty items including jams and candies, and more.

Guests can pick up pastries to go or sit and enjoy them at a cafe table. The shop serves drip coffee, espresso drinks, an assortment of fine teas and artisanal ice creams.

Located at 17 Church Street, the Jayce Baudry French Pastry space was designed by Brooklyn-based Cycle Architecture, the same firm responsible that created Faubourg Montclair and New York City restaurants Lilia and Loring Place. The storefront’s glass case filled with pastry showpieces will draw you inside, where you will find a modern shop with clean lines and warm touches.

Jayce Baudry, 17 Church Street, Montclair, 973-531-6464. Open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
