Montclair, NJ – Sweetgreen is coming to Montclair Center, across from Anthropologie, in the historic Crane building (460 Bloomfield Avenue). The national fast-casual chain, known for “fresh, plant-forward, earth friendly food” has more than 100 locations in 16 states and on Washington, D.C. (where the very first Sweetgreen opened in 2007). If you visit or commute to NYC, you’ve probably passed one of the more than 37 Sweetgreen locations. Montclair’s Sweetgreen would join three locations in New Jersey: Jersey City, Shops at Riverside (Hackensack) and Shrewsbury.

Sweetgreen’s Harvest Bowl

The menu is filled with salad and warm bowl options (the Chicken & Brussels bowl features blackened chicken, roasted brussels sprouts, roasted sweet potatoes, apples, roasted almonds, spring mix, chopped romaine, cranberry maple vinaigrette) and plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.

Sweetgreen was founded in 2007 when three Georgetown students — Jonathan Neman, Nicolas Jammet and Nathaniel Ru — wanted a healthy, fast food option that featured ingredients from local farmers.

Sweetgreen is still in construction mode, putting the final touches on the new Montclair location. They have been known to surprise visitors on opening day with gift cards, so stay tuned.
