Name: Michaela McClain Glynn

Where do you live? Montclair

When did you move there? I went to MSU so I’ve lived in town on & off for the last 15 years.

Where did you grow up? Bernardsville, NJ

How do you make a living? OR What is your everyday passion? I am an educator, musician, entrepreneur, and singer/songwriter. I run my own business teaching baby & me music classes, and I’ve been teaching private music lessons for 16 years out of Montclair. I also perform music professionally at clubs, restaurants, private events, etc. I have a passion for creating meaningful music classes for parents, caregivers and little ones. I run 6-8 week classes all year long! Please email me to sign up or get more info: michaela.mcclain.music@gmail.com

Coffee, tea or … ? Coffee to start the day, tea to end the day.

What’s your idea of a perfect weekend day? Going for a sunny hike in the woods (Mills Reservation  is my happy place) followed by a delicious brunch at Ray’s on Walnut St. And live music– somewhere in there- catching some good live music.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? Too many to list! I love Ray’s, Ani Ramen & Ruthie’s (blues fridays make me so grateful to live in this neighborhood).

What’s on your nightstand? Spiritual & prayer books with daily meditations; Marianne Williamson & Louise Hay to name a few authors I love.

What are you listening to? Always listening to some of my favorites: India Arie, Ella Fitzgerald, James Taylor, Jill Scott, Moonchild, the list goes on…

What are your current indulgences? Coffee from Paperplane

What talent you would most like to have? Honestly, if I wasn’t a singer it would be my dream. I feel like I won the lottery & wouldn’t wish for another talent because I’m so grateful for what I have. But ok ok…. i wish I could play every musical instrument REALLY well.

What’s the worst-kept (or best-kept!) secret about Montclair? If I told you it wouldn’t be a secret!

What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? That I made the world a better place by using the gifts I’ve been given. That my musical expression touched or ministered to people in some way but mostly that my warmth & love was felt & made a positive impact on the world and those around me.
