Montclair’s Make Music Day returns for its 10th year to celebrate music and community on Wednesday, June 21. After receiving an official proclamation by the Township Council on May 16, the organizers of the event are looking forward to welcoming a larger crowd this year.

In addition to previously used venues and veteran performers, participants can expect to see new venues and performers on the line up. Events are scheduled throughout the day at multiple locations all over town.

At 10 a.m., music lovers can grab a coffee at Local Coffee, 107 Watchung Ave., and listen to jazz musician Joseph Rubino.  At 1 p.m., residents can head to East Side Mags and take harmonica lessons with Josh Herman. A group performance of Billy Martin’s “Stridulations” and a community sing-along of “The World Turned Upside Down” will begin at 5 p.m. at Fletcher Hall, 67 Church St.

Greg Pason, director of Indie Arts Montclair, said “Make Music Day is a celebration of music and community.” Indie Arts Montclair is a nonprofit organization that is responsible for Montclair Make Music Day. “It’s a day for everyone, more of a holiday than a festival, where residents will find music everywhere” Pason said.
