Montclair’s Tanner Addair bested the best-of-the-best in the 12-under group to win the New Jersey Home Run Derby.

Addair took home the crown at Secaucus on July 28 against several home run derby champs from throughout the state.

Addair defeated Jason Spore from Elmore Little League and Matteo Peralia of Randolph Little League in the finals. All three hitters received eight pitches. And with Addair going last, Tanner was able to smack a home run on the sixth pitch to take home the title.

Overall, Tanner hit seven home runs in the home run derby which was based on a point system depending on how far the hit went including three points for a hit that went out of the Secaucus park. Tanner scored 24 points in the first round including five home runs to advance to the finals.

Addair was also instrumental in helping the Montclair Rec Little League team win the 12U Little League District 8 title. He smacked three home runs and hit .625 to lead Montclair in capturing the District 8 championship.
