Vanguard Theater has announced a year-long collaboration with Out Montclair, the nonprofit created to support the LGBTQIA+ community for its 2023-2024 MainStage Season.

The partnership includes two Drag shows (Halloween and PRIDE) and seven Sip ‘n’ Sings—piano bar events with group singing and pop-up guest performances.

“We are so excited for our continued partnership with Vanguard Theater Company,” states Out Montclair managing director Marie Cottrell.

The first Sip’ n’ Sing is this weekend, Friday, September 22! Audience members get to sip, sing, and celebrate the score of “Rent, the Musical.”

Vanguard Theater’s Mainstage Season Opener, “Lady Day at the Emerson Bar and Grill” (November 30 – December 17), is an intimate portrayal of the legendary Billie Holiday and her life and music.

From March 22 – 24, Def Poetry Jam alum Dahlak Brathwaite brings Spiritrials—his Hip-Hop theater meditation on drug policy, racial profiling, the criminal justice system, and human imperfection to Vanguard in a seamless flow of rap, song, and storytelling.

Closing the season is Pippin (June 20 – July 7), a whimsical and daring musical theater adventure that dares to question the meaning of life and the pursuit of extraordinary experiences.

Each of Vanguard’s Mainstage productions will have a special Spotlight Series night dedicated to Out Montclair.
