Happy March! St. Patrick’s Day celebrations begin this weekend, and there are plenty of local parades and events to enjoy leading up to the big day. So, grab your green gear, throw on some lucky charms, and let the shenanigans begin!
Parades
- Nutley St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Sunday, March 2 at 1 p.m. Hosted annually by the Nutley Irish American Association.
- West Orange St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Sunday, March 10 at 12:15 p.m. A West Orange tradition for 71 years.
- Newark St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Friday, March 15 at 1 p.m. A Newark tradition since 1936.
- NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Saturday, March 16 at 11 a.m. The oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world.
St. Paddy’s Day Celebrations & Events
Cloverleaf Tavern will host a week-long celebration, beginning on March 10 with an Irish Brunch and continuing throughout the week with food, music and more!
Egan & Sons (116 Walnut Street, Montclair) will host its annual weekend-long festivities! On Friday, March 15, the fun kicks off with Drag Bingo with Harmonica Sunbeam! On Saturday, March 16, enjoy music by The Counterfeiters Band and a Tent Party with a beer truck. On Sunday, March 17, the St. Paddy’s Day festivities begin at 11 am with Irish Dancers, followed by DJ Bruce Ciccone in the Tent at 4 pm and Irish Music All Day! There will be a beer truck and an Irish food festival inside and out!
Have the luck of the Irish? Montclair Brewery (101 Walnut Street, Montclair) hosts a St. Paddy’s Day edition of its Winning Wednesdays: Taproom Trivia on March 13. Then, on March 15, they celebrate with their annual St. Paddy’s Day Irie Festival from 3–11 p.m., where they add some Jamaican spunk to the Irish holiday.
Town Pub (378 Broad Street, Bloomfield) Bloomfield has Irish food specials. On March 17, enjoy music by a DJ and bagpipers.
Celtic Woman performs their fusion of traditional Irish music and contemporary songcraft at Mayo PAC (100 South Street, Morristown) on March 15. Both an accomplished recording ensemble and a world-class performing collective, Celtic Woman celebrates Ireland’s rich musical and cultural heritage while continuing its remarkable 12-year legacy of introducing some of Ireland’s most talented singers and musicians onto the world stage.
The annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration is on March 17 at Tierney’s Tavern (136 Valley Road, Montclair). Enjoy 500 lbs. of corned beef, traditional Irish music, bagpipers, and lots of Guinness!
Celebrate with Trinity Irish Dance Company at NJPAC (1 Center Street, Newark) on March 17. It’s Irish step dancing with a rebellious spirit—featuring a troupe of high-energy performers with incredible athletic prowess and precision footwork.
