A look at the Montclair Heights Public School, which later was renamed Bradford School in this edition of “Then and Now.”
Montclair Heights Public School was built in 1895 at 87 Mt. Hebron Road on a site purchased from Thomas Brainard. It was replaced in 1925-26 with the brick building we recognize today to accommodate the town’s booming population. The school has had several additions over the years. It was named after Dr. Amory Howe Bradford, the influential pastor of The First Congregational Church.
“Then and Now,” a series, is a collaboration between Montclair History Center and Montclair Local.
