Lillian Restivo

Lillian Restivo of North Bergen, formerly of Montclair, died on April 12, 2024, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 99.

Born in 1924 in the Bronx, Mrs. Restivo was one of 14 children of Giovanni and Nunzia Restivo.

After graduating from Evander Childs High School, she embarked on a varied career, including working as a secretary at Dean’s Furniture and later as executive secretary to the president at Nathan’s Famous, Inc. She also taught ballroom dancing at Fred Astaire Studios.

Mrs. Restivo’s passions extended well beyond her work life. She loved dancing and also was an avid crafter, creating holiday decorations, Christmas ornaments and silk floral arrangements that she sold at local craft fairs. 

An animal lover, her dogs Daphne and Kiki held a special place in her heart. She also enjoyed traveling, exploring destinations like Italy, France, Belgium, Spain and various family resorts in the New York area.

Known for her humor and warmth, she would become fast friends with anyone she met. She also will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, enthusiasm for life, personal strength and deep caring for her family and friends.

Mrs. Restivo is survived by her daughter, Linda Davidson; grandson, Christopher Carboni (wife Laura Bandel); great-granddaughter, Camille Lily Carboni; son, Gregory Mellina (Pamela); granddaughters, Taylor Mellina, Courtney Mellina and Sydney Mellina, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass was celebrated in her honor on April 22 at St. Cassian Roman Catholic Church, 187 Bellevue Ave., followed by interment at Mount Hebron Cemetery. Arrangements were made by O’Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St., Bloomfield.
