Essex County Board of County Commissioners honored two Montclair High School students on Wednesday, April 24. Juniors Leo Hirsch and Anders Jenkins received recognization at The Essex County Celebrates Youth Ceremony.

Certificates were presented by Tyshammie L. Cooper and Brendan Gill of the Essex County Board of County Commissioners. 

Essex County highlighted Hirsch’s outstanding work in the community. He has worked with numerous charities including founding the Autumn Leaves Foundation which strives to create a more welcoming environment and provide resources for those struggling with eating disorders. Leo is also an active member of the Jewish Student Union, plays two sports and is the chair of the Mental Wellness Committee at MHS.

Jenkins received honors for his outstanding work in athletics. Anders has been on the MHS varsity hockey team since his freshman year. He has been captain and co-captain for various club hockey teams. Jenkins has signed with the Hitmen Juniors for the 2024-25 season and is looking forward to working alongside his father, Reginald Jenkins in the next stage of the renovation of Clary Anderson Arena.
